Capibara

We have now arrived in Newport from Bermuda after 7 days at sea, and we would like to thank everybody in and around the Salty Dawg organization for making it such a good experience for us. We’ve met great support at sea through the SSB radio, and Linda and Bill’s engagement in the participants are amazing. Chris Parker guided us …

Capibara is still in Bermuda. We’ve been here for a week now waiting for better weather to go to Newport, RI. Bermuda is a great place to wait, though, and a couple of other Salty Dawgs are waiting with us. We have rented a scooter for the week and joined the local gym, so a couple of weeks more and …

Capibara

Capibara has finally made it to Bermuda! It took us nearly 9 days, but it’s been a good trip. Now we’re looking forward to exploring Bermuda, before we go back to sea again and head towards Newport, RI. We hope that Chris Parker can tell us when there’ll be a good weather window. Now we’re on our way to the …

It so nice to talk to other people while at sea – also when it’s just sharing our positions. It’s reassuring that you’re not the only one out there!  Read here for more on Capibara’s SSB communications.

We have so far had a very smooth and comfortable ride. Because of the week winds, we haven’t been going very fast, but it’s been very comfortable. Our ETA is at the moment Saturday, which is the last …

Zero wind on the Atlantic. We are motor sailing now, but with only a 100 liters of diesel, we have to economize it with still 375 miles to go to Bermuda. Yesterday we had the most beautiful evening sky after sunset. It went from purple to light red to orange and then to deep red. To night we’ll look out …

5/18/14 The wind has now died, so the last couple of hours we have been under engine. It is so tiring, though, listening to the engine all the time. We’re hoping for more wind – otherwise we need to start whistling from the stern.
